Welcome to episode 162 of The PE Umbrella Podcast!
This week I am joined by Primary PE consultant Steve Busby. Welcome to episode 160 of The PE Umbrella Podcast!
This week I am joined by co-founder of Yoginis Yoga Susan Hartley. On this episode we simply chat about ALL things Yoga, Wellbeing and Mindfulness in relation to primary school children. You could argue, with the current circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic, that never has the physical and mental wellbeing of our children been more important, and this presents us a unique opportunity going forward. In a way, our hands are being forced to make changes during and (hopefully) off the back of this.
During this episode we talk about the great benefits of yoga, stretching beyond the physical and how these can be easily intertwined with a school day. We also learn what a stand-alone yoga session might look like in a Primary School and how we might engage those reluctant learners.

This week I am delighted to be joined for a second time on the show by Rachel Ford. On this episode, we simply chat about ALL things PE, with a particular focus on the power of a theme/story to hook children into their learning.
Having recently been through a 3-month lockdown in China, we then discuss the first 2 weeks back teaching face to face and what this has meant for Rachel. How have things changed? What has surprised her? How has she adapted?

Not only this, but we share top tips throughout for winning over those reluctant learners, including dance in creative ways throughout the curriculum and so much more!
